Web design for Calgary's fintech, energy and tech companies
I'm Elias Chapuis, a freelance design engineer who designs and builds websites for Calgary companies, from energy and industrial firms modernizing their image to fintech and software startups preparing to raise or launch. I handle strategy, design and development myself.
Fintech is a sector I know well: I worked on the rebrand, website and motion for Kulipa, a card-issuing infrastructure for stablecoins, and on the one-page site and identity for Arqon, which builds the financial engine behind real estate deals. I'm based in Saskatoon and work with Calgary teams remotely, which in practice means fast feedback loops and no agency overhead.
/INDUSTRIES
Calgary's industries and what their websites need
Calgary's economy was built on energy, and many of its companies still sell to large, careful buyers who read every page before picking up the phone. Alongside that, the city has a growing tech and fintech scene, with startups that need to look established long before they are.
Each of those audiences expects something slightly different from a website:
- Energy and industrial firms: clear services, credible proof, easy contact paths
- Fintech: trust signals, clear explanations of how money moves, a measured tone
- SaaS and software: product storytelling, pricing pages, demo flows
- Professional services: a sharp brand and a site that is easy to update

Designing for trust in fintech and B2B
When a product moves money or touches critical operations, the website does a lot of the selling before any sales call happens. I focus on the details that build confidence: a coherent visual system, precise copy, honest product visuals and pages that load fast on any device.
For Kulipa, that meant isometric illustrations and motion that made invisible infrastructure feel tangible. For Arqon, it meant writing and structuring the narrative myself, so a sophisticated offer read like a simple story on a single premium page.

Webflow, Framer or code: picking the right build
I build most marketing sites in Webflow, as with Kulipa, because it gives marketing teams full control over pages and CMS content without a developer in the loop. I also work in Framer and write custom HTML and CSS when a project needs it.
If your current site is stuck on an aging WordPress theme, I can move it, as I did for Feedier when it migrated from WordPress to Webflow alongside its rebrand. More on how I approach these builds on the Webflow developer page.
/SENIOR_INDEPENDENT
A senior independent instead of a large agency
Large agencies bring capacity, but also layers: account managers, handoffs and juniors doing much of the work. With me, the person on the discovery call is the person designing your pages and shipping the build. That's often a better fit for startups and mid-sized companies that want senior attention on a defined budget.
Pricing is fixed and agreed after our first call, based on page templates, content, brand work and integrations, so you know the full cost before the project starts.

Frequently asked questions
Do you meet clients in Calgary?
I'm based in Saskatoon, so Calgary projects run remotely by video, with shared Figma files and async updates between calls. I don't have a Calgary office. I can travel for a kick-off when a project clearly benefits from it.
Can you design for energy and industrial companies in Calgary?
Yes. The principles are the same as for any demanding B2B audience: explain complex services clearly, show proof and make contact easy. My work on Bravi, a technical expert for manufacturers' field teams, is a good example of designing for an industrial audience.
Do you have fintech experience?
Yes. I worked on Kulipa's rebrand, website, illustrations and motion with the agency KLIMB, and on Arqon's identity and website. Both had to explain financial infrastructure to sophisticated audiences without losing clarity.
How do you price a website?
I send a fixed-price proposal after an intro call. The price depends on the number of page templates, how ready your content is, any brand work and the integrations needed. There are no hourly surprises.
Are we in the same time zone?
Close. Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time year-round, which matches Calgary's clock in summer and is one hour ahead in winter. Our working days overlap almost completely.
